Our core staff team is supported by the brilliant work of our volunteers — making our audiences feel at home, serving refreshments in the Café Bar and supporting with the smooth running of performances and events across the building.

We are so grateful to our volunteers for their time and efforts, and our audiences often remark how much they appreciate their warmth and helpfulness.

Volunteering at Aberdeen Arts Centre is a great option if you're looking to support the local performing arts scene in the north east of Scotland, meet new people and keep busy in your free time or retirement, or add to your CV. Our volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds and levels of experience, and each of them brings their own personality to the role.

Opportunities to Volunteer

Front of House volunteers are responsible for greeting the audience, showing them to their seats and ensuring their well-being throughout the evening.

Café Bar volunteers serve customers drinks and snacks before the show and in the interval. The bar may also remain open after the show for customers to stay and relax.

While all our volunteers help to provide our visitors with the best possible experience, some also help with fundraising and marketing in addition to this - please let us know if you have any specialist areas of interest or skills when getting in touch.

Full training will be provided for each position and you will be supported by our experienced team of current volunteers and staff throughout your time with us. Whether you can commit to several nights a week or only a few nights a month, we'd love to hear from you!

Please note: we are currently looking for volunteers aged 18+.

"Aberdeen Arts Centre is unique and has been a part of the cultural life of Aberdeen for as long as I can remember (and I’m no spring chicken!).

"I volunteer because I want to see it thrive and continue in the way it has done for me and my family, and to grow to find new ways of being relevant in our ever-changing world."
