The Granite City Speakers Club has been active in Aberdeen for over 50 years and is made up of people who enjoy the art of public speaking and want to assist others to become better speakers and better presenters.
The members of the Granite City Speakers Club come from a range of backgrounds and there are no qualifications for membership; all that is required is that you are over 16 and have a desire to become a better speaker.
The Club is one of over 130 throughout the UK linked to the Association of Speakers Clubs

The GCSC meets fortnightly between September to December and January to April at the Arts Centre, which has been our home for most of the Club's existence. There is a membership fee for each session, with reduced rates for those under 18 and in full-time education.
Within a friendly and relaxed environment, the Club offers a well-proven approach to learning and improving effective speaking, both prepared and impromptu.
So if you have a desire to speak effectively in front of others - such as a family wedding, a presentation to colleagues or a job interview - then feel free to join us at one of our meetings listed below which start at 7pm and last for about two hours:
- 5 September
- 19 September
- 3 October
- 10 October
- 31 October
- 14 November

Performances will start at the time advertised — this will be printed on your ticket. We will be open approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
We sell tickets on behalf of other organisations who all set different ticket prices. If a concession ticket is available, this will be valid for:
- Under 16 (child)

Please have proof of your concession status with you when you come to see the show you've booked.
Babes-in-arms up to 18 months don't need a ticket if they are sitting on an adult's knee. If they need their own seat, they will need a concession ticket. Please note, buggies and car seats are not permitted in the auditorium but can be left safely in our foyer.
Entrance to Aberdeen Arts Centre is via steps. There is an outdoor lift to the right of building for step-free access. Alternatively, there is ramped access at the rear of the building via the Stage Door, via Queen Street. If you enter the Stage Door, there is a call button to contact venue staff at the inner door.
Once inside the venue, all ground floor event spaces and the Cafe Bar have step-free access. The main auditorium (on the first floor) is accessible via passenger lift. There are accessible toilets located on the ground floor.
We currently have 2 wheelchair spaces in the auditorium and 4 step-free seats. If you require any assistance, please speak to a member of our team.
The vast majority of shows and events in the main auditorium of Aberdeen Arts Centre will have assigned seating for all audience members. Check your ticket for details on your row and seat number. Performances in our Cafe Bar are generally unreserved seating. If in doubt, speak to our Box Office team and who will be happy to help.
While we do not have on-site parking, there are a number of local parking options. The closest car parks are Frederick Street, Gallowgate, Loch Street and Marischal College. A number of buses also stop nearby - see our Visit Us page for more information.
