About

For more than 60 years, Aberdeen Folk Club has been meeting on a weekly basis to share stories, poems, and songs old and new. This week we feature Ken Thompson and Gerry Kelly.

Ken started singing at the TMSA sessions in Aberdeen. He is a regular participant at numerous folk sessions throughout the North East of Scotland, Tayside and Fife and will sing bothy ballads and cornkisters mixed in with a song or two from his travels.

Gerry Kelly is a seasoned multi-instrumentalist who has spent nearly forty years bringing the rich traditions of Old-Time Americana to life. Armed with the guitar and banjo, Gerry delivers authentic songs and tunes shaped by legendary influences like Pete Seeger, Doc Watson, and Bill Monroe. Over his storied career with various bands he has shared the stage with modern icons Crooked Still and performed at the prestigious Shetland Folk Festival. Today, Gerry maintains a popular monthly residency in Aberdeen and is currently in the studio recording a highly anticipated new solo album.

Come join Aberdeen Folk Club as we raise funds for Aberdeen Arts Centre and showcase local community music this summer.
