Inspiring &
Empowering
Artists

In 2025, we continue to work with a diverse range of artists to provide the resources local creatives need to develop their craft.

By providing mentoring, dramaturgy, coaching and space in kind, we have been able to support a diverse and inspiring range of talent from across the north east and beyond.

Keep checking back on this page throughout the year for more updates.

Apropos Theatre

The Truth About Trees

Space, dramaturgy

Apropos Theatre spent a week in the Children's Theatre developing a new play for family audiences. The team spent time working on the script, as well as finding visual methods of telling stories, including shadows and puppets, before sharing their progress in a scratch performance for children and their families.

"We’ve had such a creative and inspiring time whilst at Aberdeen Arts Centre. Every day was exhausting but fulfilling and we now have a much better idea of how our final production will look.
"Everyone working at AAC has been incredibly supportive and interested in our project, whilst giving us free reign to use the Children's Theatre in a way that suits us. Eve also went above and beyond in giving us detailed feedback and suggestions for how we might develop the work in future."

Hannah Buyers

Studio Space

Space

Professional actor Hannah has visited Aberdeen Arts Centre a number of times in 2025, to record a dance showreel and to take advantage of the venue's great acoustics to rehearse for auditions.

"Aberdeen Arts Centre very kindly said I could use a room with no charge and have offered to welcome me back whenever I need. This was so supportive, thoughtful and helpful to me as an artist - it made me feel part of the community at the Arts Centre. It just shows how important a kind, collaborative and supportive venue can be to local professionals."

Sarah Helena Ord

Performance Development

Space

Sarah returned to Aberdeen Arts Centre after first being supported by the artist development programme in 2023. Utilising the Children's Theatre, Sarah worked with two other local creatives to reimagine her performance's design elements, to allow her to apply for further creative funding.

"I am so grateful for all the space, time and energy that Aberdeen Arts Centre has given to my development as an artist and theatre maker."

Philip Napier

Rehearsal Space

Space

Philip utilised the Children's Theatre to rehearse a piece of collaborative physical theatre, which will be performed overseas later in 2025.

"Creatives in Aberdeen are finally getting the chance to open up Aberdeen to the UK Arts scene - that you can create work and people will support it - and the Arts Centre is the biggest champion of that."
