Aberdeen Gilbert & Sullivan Society

Founded in 1976, the Aberdeen Gilbert & Sullivan Society is an independent performing arts group dedicated to preserving the operettas of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. Originally started up by two students, it remained part of Aberdeen University Students Association until 2015, when its doors were opened to the wider community.

Over the years, this amateur operatic society has built a reputation for being one of the most admirable in all North East Scotland. Today, it continues to bring full-scale Gilbert & Sullivan productions to the local stage, offering a glance into this classical art form.

The society rehearses weekly at The Academy of Dance, welcoming those of any experience, between the ages of 18 and onwards. Whether you’re a grandmaster of the stage or just want to expand your singing beyond the shower, you can rest assured that this longstanding creative community will welcome you with open arms.

It’s safe to say that the Aberdeen Gilbert and Sullivan Society continues to honour a rich operatic history, all while keeping it alive for the next generations of the North East.
